July 2016 Volunteer: Dave G.

What is/was your work experience? Are you now retired?
"I am retired, I got to retire early actually! I was a union carpenter."

What hobbies do you have and where do you live?
"I enjoy building/re-building hot rods. I live in Delaware city."

What other community activities have you been involved in?
"I have only been in Delaware for about a year, but in previous years, I used to attend missionary trips/events and volunteered at the food pantry."

What department do you spend the most time in at the ReStore? Do you have other areas that you work in?
"I am mostly in the tool department, but I like helping out anyplace within the store."

How often do you volunteer at the ReStore?
"Roughly 8 hours a week, so 32 hours a month give or take."

What do you enjoy most about volunteering at the ReStore?
"Meeting and helping the people that come in."

The proceeds from the ReStore support the construction activities of Delaware County Habitat for Humanity. A continued source of dedicated volunteers is the life-blood of this organization. What can we do to insure that we are able to continue to find quality, long-term volunteers?
"More advertising throughout the community, in stores and shops."

What changes would you suggest to make the ReStore a better experience for Customers and Volunteers?
"It would be nice if it could be bigger! Maybe building an 'upstairs' office space and gathering spot for volunteers and staff. But, it's pretty great already!"

Do you have anything else that you would like to add?
"I have always enjoyed making a difference. For anyplace I have worked or volunteered at, I walk the extra mile and do what I can to help!"

Thanks Dave! We appreciate all that you do!
